Supporting the Evolution
of the Analyst
Early October saw the coming
together of over 35 club based analysts from up
and down the country for ProZone’s networking
event entitled ‘Supporting the Evolution
of the Analyst’. The National Space Centre
was the venue for this launch and it proved to
be a fantastic opportunity for the analyst community
to network an d
share views on current issues in the industry.
The main themes surrounding the event were education
and development, with the principle aim of supporting
the continued personal and career growth of the
performance analyst. The day started with guest
speaker Clive Gott who, in drawing on his own
inspirational accomplishments, delivered a fascinating
and humorous insight into goal-setting and achievement.
Buoyed by Gott’s contribution, the afternoon
session was taken by Dr Peter O’Donoghue,
the Chairman of the International Society of Performance
Analysis of Sport (ISPAS) and Professor Mike Hughes,
the Head of the Centre for Performance Analysis
at (University of Wales) UWIC. Peter introduced
the eagerly awaited concept of performance analysis
accreditation through ISPAS, while Mike presented
the opportunity for analysts to gain extra qualifications
at UWIC through their work experiences and achievements.
The feedback and interest from the attendees
on the day has been overwhelming and ProZone’s
Business Development Manager Blake Wooster is
delighted that the accreditation process is now
coming to fruition. “The performance analysis
industry has made huge strides over the past decade
and we see this at the natural step in supporting
and consolidating the role of the analyst at the
club” Wooster says. “The analysts
have been crying out for this for quite some time
now, and we’re extremely proud to be facilitating
these opportunities through ISPAS and UWIC”.
