Prozone is proud to announce the signing of both Portland and Vancouver ahead of their inaugural MLS season.
Linked by Interstate Highway 5, Vancouver-Seattle-Portland has arguably represented the closest in North American football (soccer) rivalries akin to those so deeply rooted in the cultures of Manchester, Liverpool, Buenos Aires and Milan.
With the Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps joining their historical rival, the Seattle Sounders in MLS in 2011, the short two hour drive Portland to Seattle and Seattle to Vancouver will once again be flooded by thousands of club supporters wearing different shades of green and blue.
Both Portland and Vancouver recently signed long-term contracts with Prozone, which will enhance the clubs’ performance analysis, opposition scouting and player recruitment infrastructure.
For the past two years the Portland Timbers have relied on Prozone products and services to meet their video analysis needs while competing within the United Soccer Leagues First Division and USSF Second Division. The evolution of this working relationship will now see Portland utilising Prozone MATCHVIEWER and RECRUITER tools among other Prozone services.
Gavin Wilkinson, Timbers’ Technical Director had this to say upon signing with Prozone:
“The Portland Timbers are excited to have extended our partnership with Prozone. Their service has been exemplary, and we feel that the data and analysis tools will continue to be of tremendous benefit in building and preparing our MLS team.”
Following camera installation at BC Place, the Vancouver Whitecaps will be the second club in MLS to utilise the industry-leading PROZONE3 player tracking system. Vancouver will also have access to opposition scouting and a customised online player recruitment platform, which will allow them to consistently and objectively monitor the global market for player acquisition targets.
Prozone Business Development Manager, Andrew Opatkiewicz, commented:
“Prozone is very pleased to add Portland and Vancouver to the growing list of organisations that we are collaborating with within the ‘Americas’ region. The addition of both clubs to the league will be good for the growth of the sport in the U.S. and Canada, and the attention that both will bring will foster the evolution of football culture in North America. Ultimately, both clubs will hold themselves to high standards on the field, and that is where Prozone will play a part in achieving success.”
