Prozone Sports add 'Estadio Ciudad de La Plata' ahead of Copa America and Argentina Apertura
'Estadio Unico', as La Plata Stadium in Argentina is sometimes referred to, is one of the most contemporary stadiums in South America. After recently signing a long term partnership with Prozone, 'Estadio Unico' will now have the technology to further develop that reputation, as the PROZONE3 system will be installed and used to monitor performance during domestic and international competitions including the Copa America and Argentina Apertura.
Fernando Casalla, Vice President, Club Estudiantes de la Plata commented; "After important research, we decided to make Estudiantes de La Plata the first team in Argentina to improve their technology with a long term contract with Prozone. This should also give the club a big opening in the Sport Global Market.”
Casalla continued, “We’re excited to have Prozone in La Plata Stadium, as this will provide Estudiantes with new resources to support the technical and management staff.”
Cherquis Bialo, AFA Communications Chief, is also looking forward to the benefits of the Prozone system; “La Plata will become the first Stadium in Argentina to use PROZONE3 technology and analysis. This will provide great benefits to AFA through the use of the system during the 2011 Copa America.”
2009 Copa Libertadores and 2010 Argentine Primera Champions, Estudiantes are one of the most successful teams in Argentina and ranked 3rd in CONMEBOL rankings. Estudiantes have won the Copa Libertadores a total of 4 times, and the Primera Division a total of 5.
Fernando Martinez, Director of PlayFE, and Prozone partner in the region, added; “La Plata Stadium is one of the most important landmarks in South American football. Prozone will work with the stadium operators, AFA and the Copa America organizing committee to provide unique performance-based coverage of the 2011 Copa America.”
Prozone’s Americas’ Business Development Manager, Andrew Opatkiewicz concluded, “With Estudiantes, and other clubs and federations in the region actively using Prozone – and our expanding product and service lines, complete domestic league coverage in key regions, like Latin America – Prozone continue to push the envelope providing performance analysis tools as well as global player recruitment and media solutions.”
Copa America is scheduled to kick off on July 1st, when Argentina takes on Bolivia at La Plata. The Argentine Apertura will begin in August, when Estudiantes looks to regain Argentina’s highest honour.
